The only dedicated pirate history tour in Panama. Our guide Diego spent 3 years excavating the ruins you'll visit. The hidden treasure finale? His invention. Guests applaud.
In 1671, the Welsh pirate Henry Morgan led one of history's most audacious raids — sacking the original Panama City, the wealthiest city in the Americas, and burning it to the ground. On this tour, we follow his trail through the ruins, legends and hidden corners of old Panama.
Starting at the sea walls where Morgan's forces landed, your guide will bring to life the dramatic story of the raid — the city's desperate defenders, the march through jungle, and the three weeks of looting that followed. You'll visit the ruins left by the fire, hear tales of buried treasure, and see the strategic geography that made Casco Viejo easier to defend when the city was rebuilt in 1673.
Equal parts history lesson and adventure story, the pirate tour is our most theatrical offering — and the one guests remember longest.

Common Questions
Everything you need to know before you book.
How is the pirate tour different from the free colonial tour?
The pirate tour focuses on the dark side of Casco Viejo's history — Henry Morgan's 1671 raid, the burning of the original city, Spanish colonial warfare, and the neighbourhood's forgotten ruins. It's a deeper, more narrative-driven experience than the free colonial walk.
How long is the tour and what does it cost?
The tour runs for approximately 2 hours and costs $35 per person. Small groups of maximum 12 guests.
Is the pirate tour suitable for children?
Yes — the history is dramatic but appropriate for ages 8 and up. Guides adapt the storytelling for younger guests. It's one of the most popular tours with families.
What is included in the price?
Your $35 includes an expert local historian guide, entry to all exterior sites and viewpoints, and a small-group experience. No hidden costs.
When does the tour run?
The pirate tour runs daily. Check availability and book your preferred time slot via the booking widget above.
Do I need prior knowledge of Panama's history?
Not at all. The guide covers everything from scratch. All you need is curiosity and comfortable shoes.
