María is from San Blas. This workshop doesn't exist anywhere else in Panama City. You leave with a completed artwork and a real connection to one of Panama's living indigenous cultures.
The Kuna people of the San Blas islands are among Panama's most distinctive indigenous communities — and the mola is their most celebrated art form. These intricately layered textile panels, stitched in geometric patterns and vivid colours, carry spiritual meaning, community identity, and generations of craft knowledge passed from mother to daughter.
In this workshop, you will work directly with a Kuna artisan who brings the mola tradition to life through painting and textile demonstration. You will learn the symbolism behind the geometric patterns, the significance of colour in Kuna culture, and how to create your own mola-inspired painting to take home as a piece of authentic Panamanian art.
This is a hands-on cultural experience — not a museum visit. By the end of the session, every guest leaves with a completed artwork and a deeper understanding of one of Panama's most vibrant living cultures. All materials are provided. No prior art experience needed.
