About This Day Trip
Travel up the Chagres River by motorised dugout canoe to visit an Emberá community — one of Panama's seven Indigenous peoples, whose villages inside Chagres National Park welcome visitors on their own terms.
You'll be received with music, share a lunch of fried fish and patacones served in a bijao leaf, learn how the community weaves its world-famous baskets, and — if you like — get a temporary jagua tattoo.
Like our mola workshop in Casco Viejo, this trip is about direct cultural exchange: the community hosts, guides and profits. We coordinate with Emberá partners and keep groups small.
